A ‘PROBLEMATIC’ house was shut with a closure order this week following a joint partnership between Barnsley Council and South Yorkshire Police.

The property, on Wilkinson Road, Elsecar, was made the subject of a closure order due to ongoing issues surrounding antisocial behaviour.

Bosses say they will everything in their power to support local residents who need help.

A police spokesperson said: “As a result of partnership work between Barnsley Council and South Yorkshire Police, a problematic house on Wilkinson Road, Elsecar has been made subject to a closure order.

“The council and police made the application to the court because of antisocial behaviour and associated problems coming from the address.

“This ‘full’ closure order means the occupant and associates are prohibited from entering the property.

“Hopefully, this action will improve the quality of lives for local residents.

“The occupant’s day got even worse, as police found her to be wanted for two shoplifting offences.”
