SUZANNE McGill’s run at the Vale of York half marathon ensured a ladies over45 age group win, a new PB and a club record for Penistone Footpath Runners.

McGill crossed the line in 1.24.35.

Teammate Bill Phillips was also crowned Yorkshire champion at the same race with 1.59.05 enough for the over75 victory too.

Barnsley AC’s Gavin Walker ran a PB of 1.18.03 and Dave Brooksbank was first over65 male with 1.27.27.

Gail Colville was second over55 female with 1.36.36 and Gemma Thickett crossed in 1.41.36.

A 10k race was held at the same event with Penistone’s Lois Lopez first over50 female and Peter Beever earning a PB with 46.45.

Barnsley AC’s Vicky Shaw was first over40 female with 40.46. Other finishers were Mark Wood (42.23), Liam Tart (44.18), Heidi Quigley (48.43) and Dean Wallace (48.48).

Lopez also ran in the London Big Half Marathon and finished in 1.50.38 and raised £350 for Heart UK.

Penistone’s Hannah Pedley finished the Yorkshireman Off Road Half Marathon in 3.30.00. Her efforts also raised almost £200 for Barnsley Hospice.

Barnsley AC’s Gareth Cooke and Naomi Drakeford competed in the elite bracket at the Great North Run.

Cooke finished 46th overall and 1.09.53 was just two seconds short of his PB.

Drakeford was 24th with 1.21.18. Joy Benson’s 2.21.00 was her fastest ever time at the race.

Penistone runners performed well with Andrew Pearson the first home in 1.24.02.

The first lady back was Gemma Nutton with a new personal best time of 1-48-39, she also raised money for Autism Support Dogs.

Two junior members from Penistone competed in the Junior Great North Run.

They were Lauren Lees who was 96th in the under 12 girls’ category with 22.01.

Her sister Millie Lees was 164th in the girls under14 age category in a time of 27.52.

Penistone’s George Parr was first at the Higham Hurtle.

He completed the five and a half mile off road race in a time of 30.02.

Harriet Drouin was second lady in a time of 45.05. Alan Knox was first in the men’s over70 age category and Barbara Haigh was first in the ladies over70 age category.

At the end of the race series winners were announced and Tracy Woodward picked up the trophy for first lady over the three race series.

In the men’s competition Alan Knox was second, Chris Deacon third and Stu Smith fifth.

Dean Wallace, of Barnsley AC, took first over60 with 40.40 also his fastest time of the year.

He also won the three race series with a time of 2.05.19.

Laura Mills finished her debut run in 50.17

Kingstone Runners had representatives competing in Tallinn at the Estonia running festival.

John Downing was second over70 in the half marathon.

Linda Walton was third over55 woman and Mel Sanders was third over65.

On the fells, Penistone’s Harriet Drouin completed the Great Longstone Fell Race in 46-23.

Shaun Swallow was part of a team taking part in the Kinder Beer Barrel Race which involves carrying a keg of beer up and down Kinder Scout.

His team managed to grab third place.

On the Parkrun scene James Mumford was first at Nostell Priory, George Parr second at Barnsley and Hannah Shaw second at Sherwood Pines.

Sara Wolstenholme did her 50th Parkrun at Nostell Priory.

Age graded performances of the week were Richard Cottam (77.25%), James Mumford (74.30%), Sue Hall (73.16%), John Lawcock (71.45%) and James Fryers (71.16%).

At Barnsley Parkrun, Barnsley AC’s Scott Hinchcliffe recorded his 125th first finish there with a time of 16:25. Teammate Chris Gillott set an overall parkrun PB of 16.53 at Hillsborough.

Barnsley AC’s Gail Coalville was first over55 in 31.33 at the Wickersley Chase.

Mark Wood finished in 29.55 and Faye Lund 37.48.
