A PERFECT place to spend a Saturday afternoon or - with the school holidays fast approaching - a long day out with the family, Elsecar Heritage Centre is host to a range of shops and independent businesses.
Its impressive centuries-old workshops are now packed with shops, cafes, maker and artist studios, a vast antiques centre and the huge Playmania play centre for the kids.
The old rolling mill of the former Elsecar ironworks is now used for fantastic events, including antiques and craft fairs, makers’ markets, and weddings.
But it’s the range of independent vendors, from handmade crafts shops to traditional sweets, food and drink to more unusual gifts, that make the former ironworks shine.
