JOSH WALE’S fighting days are not over yet.
The former British bantamweight champion suffered defeat in his last outing and had contemplated retirement following the points loss to Brad Foster for the super-bantamweight British title at the Metrodome in March.
But, after talking through his options with dad and trainer Mick, he has decided to pull on the gloves again, but it will be at featherweight.
Mick feels making weight has been an issue for some time.
He said: “Making weight becomes more of an issue in your late 20s and it has affected Josh’s performances.
“He does not have the energy of the kids in their early 20s when he’s making super-bantam so we have decided to go up to featherweight again.
“I did not realise how hard making the weight was for him.
“Josh has boxed at the weight before and beat Dai Davies (in 2015), who was massive at the weight.
“It is all about adapting as you get older. Josh won a national title and represented England as a featherweight when he was a teenager so he has been there before.”
No official date has been arranged for Wale’s comeback but he will corner his brother Dempsey, in his pro debut, on May 11 at the Doncaster Dome.
