Allan Armstrong, 89, of the Bell Green Court Nursing Home, Cudworth, carved sculptures from pieces of coal from Grimethorpe Colliery - where he worked from the age of 15.
Allan said: "I made them all while working down the pit, I think there about 100 altogether that have gone to the museum - they were very surprised by how many there were.
"I hope the general public have the chance to see them."
Over the years Allan made coal sculptures for the late actor Pete Postlethwaite and former chairman of the coal board Sir Derek Ezra.
"It was a cheap hobby - but very hard to do."
His artistic flare also extends to water-colours and drawings - with examples of his work on display throughout the Cudworth care home where he lives.
Emily Green, curator of art and photography at the museum, said: "What makes Allan's work so impressive is that he wasn't formally trained and he used real coal from the Grimethorpe Colliery."
Emily describes his pieces as amazing and welcomes them to the museum's growing collection of coal sculptures.
